Shift Happens...

Shit happens so shift happens is what Ive heard... I can agree. The Universe has this methodical way of letting shit happen to shift our ass into gear. So instead of whining and complaining about your situation, find the "value in the valley. Napoleon Hill says with "every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." And if you have been to a Christian Church enough times or actually have read the Bible you have heard the scripture "count it all joy." When I tell people to count their trials and tribulations as joy, they tend to look confused... Then that's when I whip out that Wayne Dyer "if you're irritated by every rub, how will you ever become polished?" That usually puts things in perspective and they smile.

I have to remind myself of this same ideology, on the regular. The best is when someone doesn't like the not-so-positive response from me. And that's when get a lesson on yin and yang, the balance between darkness and light, or more popular taking the good with the bad. Rain makes us appreciate sunny days more (unless you're a farmer). Likewise success without struggle has little value.

If your desire is to become mad successful, you may need to know that nobody wants to hear a story of someone going from good to great, from mountain top to mountain top. Noooooooo, we like those rags to riches story. We adhere to those "I was sleeping in my car homeless for years" kind of success stories. Because I know I will have success beyond my imagination, I just say "it's all apart of the movie." Then I correct myself, movie series. My story will be one those Netflix-binge-watching series. If you don't believe....just watch! Today I am including a link to a sermon I heard a few years ago from one of the greatest speakers/teachers I have come across. Hope it speaks to your situation and to your Spirit.

Don't forget... Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be You

I Know You Hear Me, But Are You Listening???

I am notorious for walking around with headphones in with no sound coming through them. Why? Because I am not trying hear anything that does not feed my mind positive nutrition. I am not subscribing to the kool-aid! It works too. People think I can't hear them; they are partially right. I can hear, but I will allow them to think I can't so I don't have to listen. So today let's discover the difference between hearing and listening.

Hearing is your ears recognizing noises. It takes no effort, it's involuntary, meaning it happens whether we want to or not. We accidentally hear stuff we're not "supposed" to hear... And then we start listening. Do you know the difference???

Listening my friends, is taking those noises that your ears recognized and decoding the message. Decoding is the conscious processing of the sounds and making sense of what was heard. However, that is only the beginning of listening.

I'd like to go more in depth on this listening subject. Introducing to some and presenting to others: Active Listening. As an educator, I tell my students to listen with their whole body, not just their ears. Your eyes should be on the speaker, my last group of kids taught me it's called "tracking". The art of conversation comes into play at this point. You want to be sure to respond to what someone is saying before interjecting your thoughts on the subject. Seems like most folks open up there mouths and respond to what is in their pretty little heads; definitely a sign someone is not listening.

When we are involved in conversation, we should seek understanding not to be understood. How often do we actually encounter that??? Test your understanding by paraphrasing what you just heard and listened to, not attaching any emotion to the what is being stated. At the moment you have done the above mentioned, you ladies and gentlemen are ready to speak.

Now that we have distinguished the difference between hearing and listening, go out and practice your new skills. Wait! One last thing, try counting two seconds before responding, and keeping intermitten comments to yourself until the messenger is done withtheir do. you may even have someone ask "Are you listening to me?" And you will be proud to say, I am.

In the meantime and in between time, be happy, be healthy and be you!

Procrastination is Masturbation: Your Phucking Yourself in the End

DeMarco and Timothy Lister said it best “there are a million ways to lose a work day, but not even a single way to get one back. “

Everyday I think “I need to blog… today!” In the utopia of my mind, I am sharing a new blog with you daily. I have a plethora of information and anecdotes to share. What is the problem? Time? We, rather I have PLENTY of available time. Don’t know how to prioritize? Please believe, as a trained organizer I know how to prioritize and design a course of action. What is the real issue here? What are you spending your time on? Honestly? *head drops looks up*  Instagram,  Facebook,  YouTube , and google-ing everything under the sun.  Somedays I am job hunting and applying for jobs I have no interest in, but the choir’s homily blurring my site of MY goals. (Another day's blog) Procrastination is quite popular; I'm doing it right in the midst of this blog.

How do we identify this life-sucking bug?

Here are some of the major symptoms you have been bitten…

Numero uno is avoiding unpleasant activities or possible results.

  • What if I mess up?

  • I don't wanna do it (all of a sudden we're kids again).

  • Why me?

Second up to bat is excuses disguised as reasons.

  • I don’t have enough time available.

  • I need _______before I can do it.

  • I'm not in the right environment.

  • I don't feel like it.

Then there is indulging in distractions.

  • Social Networking and/or Web-surfing (probably top of your list huh?)

  • Watching TV, Movies

  • Reading

  • "Good timing" with friends

  • Cleaning up (the thing that’s usually avoided til you have a project to avoid more)

  • Sleeping (I am the QUEEN of naps!)

Before I take another opportunity to NOT finish this post, let’s sum this up with a

Plan Against Procrastination

  1. FORGIVE ourselves for procrastinating, not meeting deadlines, leaving stuff undone, etc.

  2. GET BUSY. Having lots to do leads to more getting done, ironically.

  3. Make a CHECKLIST. Don't check it twice, cross it off!

  4. Phuck PERFECTION! Doing something is better than having a "perfect" nothing.

  5. Write out an "Unschedule" (Click the word to find out more)

  6. REWARD ourselves. Yay! I get something because I completed something.
Now we have a plan, let's get started immediately. No more phucking  around. We can't keep sitting around expecting success to come... SUCCESS IS AWAITING US! I Believe That We Will Win!

In the meantime and in between time be happy, be haelthy, be you. I love you!

JUST SMILE :D

When you first wake up in the morning, just smile.
When life isn't feeling smooth, just smile.
When someone offends, doubts or discourages you, just smile.
When you ain't doing nothing else, just smile.
When you see that person who irritates you (on purpose), just smile.
When you really want to frown, just smile.
When you make eye contact with a stranger, just smile.
When you are about to go to bed, just smile.

Don't wait for a reason to smile, just smile and more reason to smile will show up.
So... JUST SMILE!

Confusion Brings Clarity

Confusion brings clarity... I recently dated a guy that had me in a daze, Rem. My friends couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me. They're used to a pitbull in a skirt, whose all about business, phuck negus. So for me to talk and act all lovey dovey, was totally out of character for me. Some were excited for me and others were like “Where's Mimi...Earth to Mimi???" My people who knew Rem were like "Are you sure about this?" I thought I was sure and I was committed. However this guy obviously had a slew of issues that had nothing to do with me... I'll give him credit for saying so. Nonetheless, I was treated haphazardly and felt undervalued. I remember when he said “If you ever run, I'll run faster, we're together forever." He broke up with me twice!  It was like, all of sudden he wanted me in the box I have successfully stayed out of the majority of my life. And my blind, deaf & dumb in-love ass was ready to jump in, for the sake of what I believed was genuine love that was perfectly aligned, for the sake of the end result we desired; I'm a team player. The indicators lights were on, but I kept riding...What can I say? I’m ride or die; any guy I've dated, my friends and family will confirm, that.

In this experience I grew as a person.  See, I was capable of loving, just not willing to let an outsider in the fort. So, I was proud of myself for being involved to monogamist, committed relationship. What I realized was the previous relationship opened me to that possibility. I was hanging with Uncle Frank again, it wasn’t serious nor exclusive, but I found myself desiring such after while. At the time, not sure if I just wanted him in particular, or a relationship in general. In that confusion of thoughts and emotions, it was clear what type of relationship is for me, what elements mattered, and what was no longer serving my needs. In that moment of clarity, I decided to discontinue business and personal with him because I realized that I wanted to be with one man who want to be with just me. When I returned to Florida, I cut off my sugar daddy and anyone else I knew did not fit the bill of my true desires. In the midst of learning what we don’t want, clarity comes about what we do desire. Furthermore, when you know what you want, you have to prepare and position yourself for it. The running back has to be in position when the quarterback launches that rock.

When you find yourself in a confused state of mind or a tumultuous situation, pay attention to what feels good and what doesn’t. In lies the key to clearly define your desires. And always remember what you whole heartedly desire, desires you. Until next time, be happy, be healthy, and be you. I love you!

Help Wanted

“You can only help people how they desire to be helped and in a way that you feel comfortable helping…anything else is resistance.” -JWP

I have always prided myself on being a helper, a helpmate. Often on my journey I have met lots of resistance from my helpees. Its frustrating! Like dammit I AM trying to help you, what’s your  problem? We often wonder why someone doesn’t or won’t accept the help (we deem) they need.

There’s a multitude of reasons why someone may not accept assistance. Very often Ego is the culprit. Ego is the one that usually heads up the conscious thinking we do, basing its perception on past experiences, assumptions and judgments. The judgement can be against themselves or the one offering help. Ego makes a person think, Why do you want to help me? What’s in it for you?  You think you’re better than me? or I’m grown. I’m supposed to do this on my on. I don't wanna have to hear about this later.

And on the other side of the coin is when you decide to help someone and they take your helping them to another level. I guess it's the old cliché , "give a person an inch, they take a yard." You know you offer to help a lil, next thing you know a person has dropped all their responsibilities in your lap. Now you're overwelmed and no longer feeling good about helping, feeling like you wish you never got involved. So what happened, and what do you do now???

We have to be clear about is what we are we are willing and capable of doing to help someone. And when it is our turn to receive help, let's not allow ego to step in the middle of things. Open your mind and self to receive the help that is being provided. Both parties should feel some level of comfort and satisfaction. Until next timemy friends, be happy, be haelthy, be you. I LOVE YOU!!!
